Leading convenience stores are dropping sales of adult magazines, as they seek to establish a more wholesome image in the run-up to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The decision also follows complaints by women as well as parents that such material is inappropriate in neighborhood stores.

此一決定也是遵從女性與家長的抱怨，認為這類刊物不適合出現居家附近的商店。

Seven-Eleven Japan Co., the largest chain operating more than 20,000 outlets, and Lawson Inc., third in the industry with about 15,000 outlets, said Jan. 21 that they will stop selling adult-oriented material by the end of August.

店鋪超過2萬家、最大連鎖便利超商的日本7-11，以及業界排名第3、分店數約1萬5000家的Lawson在1月21日表示，將在8月底以前停售專門販售給成人的雜誌。

FamilyMart Co., ranked second and operating about 17,000 outlets, announced Jan. 22 that it will join the rivals.

排名第二、分店數約1萬7000家的全家超商，則在1月22日宣布加入對手的（停售成人刊物的）行列。

The three "konbini" giants made the decision based on an increase in female customers and people from overseas, as well as Japan playing host to the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the 2020 Tokyo Games and the 2025 World Expo in Osaka.

這三大便利超商（konbini＝コンビニ＝便利超商）的停售決定是基於女性顧客與海外人士的增加，以及日本將舉辦2019年世界盃橄欖球賽、2020年東京奧運，以及2025年大阪世博會。

play host to：慣用語，作為主人招待或款待某人。例句：The university is playing host to a group of visiting scientists.（這所大學接待了一批來訪的科學家。）

wholesome：形容詞，有益健康的、合乎衛生的、有益的。
